The great Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente said: “we are the trash civilization”.
Some “few” years ago, many nature lovers were warning us about the danger of the generated rubbish. Still nowadays, we, as humankind, are not able to deal with our waste properly.
The problem could be in the education received until this moment: we have been taught that recycling was the solution…but time is proving that it is not like that. The percentage of recycled plastic is trifling, so, then…what is the hidden agenda behind the massive production of disposable objects and packaging?
This doesn’t mean we have to turn against recycling. For example, it can be said that the paper and glass recycling is the optimum, but in other cases like the fabrics, we need to improve. Let’s say, “we barely pass with a 5”. Basically we cannot abuse from these materials just because they are recyclable. We are not going to get into the details of the gasses that are emitted during the recycling process, but it is another aggravating. It is about avoiding.
We find in education a big ally to provoke a change. We all live in a continuous learning process, and reuse is our pending subject. In school, in digital media, in the street, at the beach…We think education is key for the progress. Learning how to reuse since childhood is a must. Children are the future, and they will at the same time teach the older ones that surround them, because they are innocent and cheeky enough to do it. But things don´t end up in the classroom.
It is avoiding the death of sea life and protecting our planet Earth and its inhabitants. No more dead fish, seabirds, coral, posidonia… caused by plastic.
Another great personality, Jacques Cousteau, also said “People protect what they love”.
In antiplastic we are going to follow the legacy left by who loved nature, like Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente and Jacques Cousteau.
Our mission, with your help, will be to avoid disposable, short-term use and decorative plastics, once for all, recommending reusable alternatives.
*Nothing is what it looks like. If you want to know more about the hidden interests in the waste gestion, we want to recommend you someone who is a professional in the subject: Alvizlo and his blog : “productor de sostenibilidad”.
